Final Team Project | Product Image Branding









The final team project will be to design a product(s) and begin to generate an image branding strategy for promotion. The product can be almost anything that you create digitally, examples include, an automobile, a movie, or an industrial design product (light fixture, furniture, etc.).

The first phase of the project will be to convince a jury of reviewers the viability of your product. This will be a public presentation and review process where you will receive criticism and approval to move forward on development. These presentations will occur on November 20 and November 23, each team will produce a PowerPoint presentation that will be a maximum of 10 minutes each. You are to present your product, generate a strategy for development, create a timeline for completion and develop a task roster for each team member.

The final presentation will include the following deliverables:

1. Website [describing your product]

2. Printed material [poster and brochure], including literature (text) to support your product.

3. Animation/trailer advertising the product

4. Choreographed verbal presentation

Final Presentations will occur the week of December 7, 2009 and concluding December 11, 2009. Each presentation will be 20 minutes maximum for each team; time slots will be defined at a later date.

Assignment 0.7 | 3D Max | Animation














Create animation’s for one of the following topics.


a. Information

b. Spiritual


The objective is to inform a new way of creating environments and search for spaces that define themselves through abstract components. The animations should convey a sense of detachment from real world references and express your own fundamental concepts of how these spaces should be experienced.


Look at the abstract work of artist like Marcel Duchamp, Piet Mondrian, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Robert Raushchenberg and Gunther Gerzso.


You are to create one 300-frame animations at 640 X 480 resolution (quicktime or AVI format).

Assignment 0.6 | 3D Max | Lighting Fixture
















































1. Create a lighting fixture of your own design. (Be inventive use different tools to create your fixture.)


2. Various texture maps should be applied to give the fixture realistic properties.


3. Use various lighting options to create interesting effects. (Three different sources should be used.)


4. Cast shadows and render at 800 X 600 resolution. (hard & soft shadows)


5. Your model should be created in a simple environment.


6. Generate four perspective views.

Assignment 0.5 | Sketch up | Red Blue chair




















1. Create a scaled replica model of Red-Blue chair using Sketch Up.

2. Using Material styles give the chair color.

3. Create three different perspective views and export as jpeg raster images.

4. Post the views on your Blog

Assignment 0.4 | In-Design | CS4

You are to develop a portfolio created by In-Design. You are to utilize the material from your previous assignments to create this portfolio. This will include:

Assignment 0.1: 3-altered photoshop images

Assignment 0.2: 6-haptic model images

Assignment 0.3: 4-Illustrator images

Your portfolio will be 8 ½” x 11” (no exceptions) and should not exceed 10 pages. You will document each assignment in the portfolio, include a photograph of yourself and name and class information. This will be a physical copy portfolio (not digital) and should be printed from a pdf at Kinkos or an other printing venue.

Portfolio's are very important in the design profession and organization, innovation and clarity are extremely important to demonstrating your abilities.

This will be due September 25, 2009.
